TUESDAY, 31ST AUGUST, 2010 HAMPDEN PARK 2:30pm
With exception to Hamilton, who lost 1-nil away to Raith Rovers, and St. Mirren, who drew 3-all away but losing on penalties to Ross County, the Scottish Premier sides Inverness Caley Thistle, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen, Hearts, and St. Johnstone advance to the Third Round of the Scottish League Cup.
First Divisioners Queen of the South, Ross County, Raith Rovers, Dunfermline Athletic, and recently exiled Falkirk also advance, alongside Scottish Second Brechin City, who drew Dundee 2-all and felled the First Division side on penalties.
Celtic, Rangers, Hibernian, Dundee United, and Motherwell, by virtue of their 2009-2010 Premier League position, will join these eleven previously mentioned clubs in the Third Round... Last campaign, Celtic defeated Falkirk 4-nil in the Third Round, but crashed out 1-nil to Hearts at Celtic Park in the Fourth (My post-match report of that match here)
Celtic have won the League Cup fourteen times total. Their last successful run was in 2008-2009 under Gordon Strachan, and it was their last trophy in the last two full season.
Rangers(SCUM). are the current League Cup holders, defeating St. Mirren 1-nil at Hampden Park......
SO do we want to draw them asap...and knock them out??

I suspect young Forrest has more than a bit part to play for us......in fact I expect him to be a first team regular.

Yeh. And while I agree sort of., I always think if you are good enough you will make it. There is a thinking about throwing kids in at the deep ....you either sink or swim. Why do we always think we have to protect youngsters when the most able do not want protecting?

Why do we always think we have to protect youngsters when the most able do not want protecting? if he is being classed as a 1st team player and we want to play our youngsters in this tournament save him for the league and scottish cup games.

With no Euro football now, we should be aiming for a clean sweep. Id wait and get the shame later in the tourney, They still have an established group. Our players need to Gel.

I agree with playing some of the younger lads and fringe players. Give them experience in a real competition, and a chance to show what they can do. There is no reserve league so let's make this our reserve cup.

Lets get the team playing as a unit and be ready for the Huns game in October, If we beat them then lets get them in the Cup and show them all just how good we are.
Hail Hail

I'm of the opinion that we go to win everything and bring in players as needed. Weakening the team for a so-called lesser cup is unfair on the fans

put the strongest team out every game we need to start putting trophies back in that cupboard... its only a few ties and you are in a final in this cup, once the players get that winning mentality about them they will want it more and more.
