Just reading through the post about Anthony Stokes and some had brought up the subject and did not want to sideline it. So for my first post Is it time for Sammy to get on his horse and ride off into new pastures? Your thoughts?

Despite being extremely frustrating, I think he has been one of our top performers so far. Since Heracles have signed Trezuguet then that option has gone. I think he's here until january anyway, but a spot of coaching, bearing in mind his age, might improve him.

I'm of two minds about Samaras. If you read his player CV and didn't know him you'd love to have him in our squad. This season he has worked his socks off for us but I don't expect him to keep it up all season. Maybe he knows he's in the shop window and wants to impress a bidder. He also seems to be a very emotional player and when things don't go well he puts his head down a bit.
I will say this about him though he doesn't hide from the ball. I'll be OK if he stays or if he goes.

I think he plays hot and cold and at times very frustrating to watch You could say that about a lot of our players dxb........ The problem I see with Sammi is.......what's his best position?? I did a report on Sunday's game ....and I praised him for his attitude and work-rate.....I thought he worked his butt off.......but there wasn't much constructive stuff came from it.... but there was no one in the box most of the time...Murphy, who was our striker, spent most of his time 35 yards from goal...we seem to be wanting to score from through the middle ...and sammi ends up running up blind alleys....I'm not defending him...just saying what I see.....

samaras frustrates the hell out of me. He is such an enigma. he has quality but all too often fails to deliver. I wish I could see him shine in most games but unfortunately I cant see that ever happening.
Nevertheless it does sound like he would miss us more than we would miss him and he aint for moving.

I have thought for a while it was time for him to move on. Too often he stops play going forward, he runs across the park or back towards his own goal. That effects the whole team and often kills our forward momentum. Him coming off on Sunday, Paddy going on, we just looked a more positive attacking team.
Definitely time to move on imo.

Georgios Samaras would rather slug it out for silverware with Celtic than settle for a team of second-raters.
The Greek striker today insisted his heart was in the Hoops after rumours he had been set to quit Celtic.
Samaras was linked with Palermo, Espanyol, Hercules and Newcastle before the transfer window slammed shut this week.
But he claims the prospect of quitting Parkhead did not even cross his mind as SPL leaders Celtic bid to wrest the SPL title from the grasp of rivals Rangers.
Samaras said: “I would love to play and stay at Celtic rather than go to a club in Italy or Germany to fight for 10th or 11th position.
“When you finish the season, you have done nothing apart from winning enough games to stay in the middle of the table.
“That is the reason why Celtic are a great club, as you can be in the history. That’s important for us to understand as players and a team, and hopefully we can make something good this year.”
Now in his third season at Celtic, he added: “I feel really well here. I have a lot of friends here in Glasgow and I feel comfortable here.
“That’s the reason that the world of rumours of changing clubs never passed through my mind, because that is negative and I want to stay here.”
Samaras played for Greece at the World Cup before joining up with Celtic on their pre-season tour of North America.
Although reasonably pleased with his efforts so far this term, the former Manchester City forward believes there is plenty more to come from him.
He told The Celtic View: “I didn’t have a lot of rest this summer but I feel good in myself. I think more things will come in the coming weeks when I will feel fresher in my legs.”

Well he is still here at least until January. I think he can be an asset to Celtic but not a first pick for me.

Samaras frustrates me so much I can't believe something hasn't gone through my TV when watching him play. He's 6ft 3'+ and is pretty much useless in the air and at times with the ball at his feet, he thinks he's Messi.
I can remember in his first season, when he came on loan from Man City, he would come off the bench in the last 15-20mins and make a real impact. If he has any role this season I think that might be it. If Lenny goes with two upfront, Hooper and Stokes will probably be first choice. If its one up front and one on the bench I reckon Sammi will really struggle to get in the matchday 16.

Samaras is and never has been good enough to play for us, he is a poor imitation of a striker.
