From stv...
Andreas Hinkel has successfully undergone an operation on his knee in America, having suffered cruciate ligament damage in training in August. The German right-back has already been ruled out for the season with the injury, meaning he may have played his last game for Celtic.
Hinkel, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was operated on by renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman, who is attributed with having saved the careers of a number of professional players. including Michael Owen and, more recently, Owen Hargreaves.
Initial tests suggested Hinkel may have suffered more damage to his knee beyond his tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. But, after the operation, the player revealed there was no further bas news.
"Everything went perfectly," Hinkel said on his official website. "Which is no wonder really because Dr Steadman is an expert of knee surgery.
"Before the operation there was a fear that there could be even more damage in the knee, in the meniscus, for example. Thank God that is not the case, it is 'only' the anterior cruciate ligament."
"I will stay in the States for a few more days before flying back to Germany for my rehabilitation.
"I am still very optimistic. My doctors have told me most athletes returning from this injury reach at least the same level as before."
In Hinkel's absence, South Korean right-back Cha Du-Ri has held down the right-back position and has contributed to Celtic's solid start to the SPL season, which sees them top of the pile after five games.
Hinkel passed on good wishes to his team-mates back in Glasgow but said he regrets not being part of their campaign to win the title back from Rangers.
"It's been great to see Celtic while I am away," he said. "Five games, 15 points and only one goal conceded. It is a pity I am not part of it."

That's good news.
A good professional, is Andreas. Hate to see anyone (unless they're a Hun) cop a bad injury like that. Hope he recovers before the end of the season and gets 1 or 2 more games for the Hoops before bowing out.

All the best Andreas. But I don't think we will see Hinkel in a Celtic jersey again.

Dr. Steadman is the same doc who worked on Alan Shearer (wanker) and Michael Owen. Good luck to Andreas.

Best of luck to the bhoy, for a full recovery and the continuation of his career.
I suspect it won't be at Paradise, but we look after our own while they are with us.
