Of course the glass ceiling has to be there but I would personally not prevent a League 3 reserve team squad playing the Celtic first team XI. That would be cool to have Celtic play Celtic. That could never be allowed. There would be no way it would be a proper competitive match.

The Celtic reserves and Rangers reserves should have a higher level of talent on the squad all things considered. I agree that that won't do it but to say that it would not be a proper match......I don't follow the logic. You don't think the reserves could get up for that match? Put all the names in a hat and pull them out at random regardless who it is.

Morton or Dumbarton or someone of that ilk should have all our development players and compete under their name.Greenock is tim country and they would get good crowds

I think its a good idea, but we would have to be allowed promotion through the league's except to the priemer, this way it would ensure clubs wouldn't just be happy to languish in the 3rd div because of the revenue with us and them bringing larger crowds

What would you think if a Celtic reserve were to break a first players leg during a game, would you want the teams to be playing flat out against each other the way they would against other teams. What if they didn't try 100% against each other, how would that look. Or if we needed one of their best players in the first team because of injury or suspension, how would that work. There's no way Celtic reserves could play a proper competitive match against the first team.

Working out the pro,s and cons will be easy, just take the lead from germany and spain, works well there,i think this will be good for everyone in the game.

id be up for a league cup where only our reserve team could enter same as huns and hibs and hearts or whoever else was entering the 3rd division let the development squad fight for a real trophy that would be a real achievement for them against spl opposition and if they done well it would generate more interest

I think that this would be a fantastic opportunity for our youth players. It wouldn't really work for actual first team reserve players would it? I mean you wouldn't have a fourth choice center half playing in a match one week and then on the bench at Celtic Park the next would you? Wouldn't the team be more like the U19 squad? (Apologies for the questions.)

I think it's a brilliant idea in theory but can't see it happening. There will be a bunch of teams in the semi-professional leagues hoping to get into Division 3 and I know for a fact that a few of them have altered there infrastructure drastically in order to meet the points issued by the SFL. Teams such as Threave, Edinburgh City and Spartans will all be hoping to step up and if SPL team reserves get in ahead of them there will bound to be some sort of legal ramification.
Would be good if it did happen though.

Cant see it happening. How would promotion work. Can you honestly see these teams voting for this.It would be the same scenario, many people have mentioned about us moving to England. If its going to affect their chances ofpromotion, which I"m sure it would,it will be a non starter. We would need to stay in the 3rd div and not be eligible for promotion, which would make it a bit farcical.Only an opinion lads.

What would be farcical about it. Our reserves getting competitive games and other clubs earning more money with our fans going to the games. It's in everyone's best interests so how is it farcical.

Thought the rankers could not field a reserve team, is that not how the league disbanded

Dundee are in trouble. Buy them through a third party and loan out development players.

Good idea, we would be able to see the young team in games that matter. Just need a place to play.

This is what I disagree with the likes off Threave, Edinburgh City and Spartans who quite honestly bring feck all to the table, hell the 2 Ediburgh teams struggle to attaract double figure crowds so they do not need another team leeching the support, many off the teams in the lower 2 divisons are playing to 3/4 hundred supporters per week, with us and the huns reserves these crowds have every possibility off trebling or quadrupling, sure it is better to bring more money to these clubs than allow more teams with sparse support to come into the setup. Hail Hail
