They've spoken about this for years but maybe this time it will happen. As the article says, it seems to work well on the continent.
In Germany the 'B' teams even have entry into the German Cup competition.

Hopefully it will allow more people to see Celtic, albeit the reserve team. At lower prices and potentially less travelling for folk it should draw a few to games. That in turn will help the teams we are playing against by raising their crowds a bit, putting a bit of much needed money into the lower league clubs. To clubs at that level and extra 50 or 100 people going to a game is actually a big deal. If it was more than that they would be in clover. Do it a few times a year and it makes a real difference to their survival.
It's something that, to me, is good for everyone concerned and hopefully it will go ahead.

Excellent news. This will give our bhoys an avenue to progress, something that is sadly lacking, at the moment. In fact, even the reserve league was insufficient, imo. I attend a few games at Airdrie's park, and there was little to no atmosphere. Our bhoys, on every occasion I was there, gave a great account of themselves, but this new proposal is the way forward.

It's a great avenue for the fringe/young players.

As opposed to currently having no league for them to play in and relying on friendlies to try and bring them on.

I think we would be doing it because our own Club think it's the best way forward for us. We just have to accept that other clubs will be happy to accept our fans money, while at the same time calling us everything under the sun and slagging us off. It was ever thus, it always will be.

This idea was mooted many moons ago and should have been implemented long before now, this would bring more money into the game for those clubs in the lower leagues, and give our reserves better competative football, the money gleaned by the lower clubs should lead to buying a better standard off player, or improving their facilities to rear their own, it has now taken the footballing authorities only aboiut 40 odd years to realise this. Hail Hail

I think it's a great idea, 2 Celtics to cheer on. They'd be in Div 1 in under 5 years ;D Hope this happens... Mon the Tic B!

Sounds like a great idea but would like to know how the Huns are going to fit into it, they dont have enough players unless they intend playing school boys.

What happens if our reserve team works it's way through the leagues and finishes up in the SPL? you can bet your last dollar that there'd be protests aplenty, can't honestly see it happening.

Have always said that we should have bought a lower league team and used it to give the developement squad competitive games. But allowing reserve teams into the league would do just as well.

There would have to be a "glass ceiling" on promotion for the teams which were the reserve teams of major clubs. There is no way that we, or anyone, would be allowed two teams in the same league. Quite rightly so.

For many reasons it is a good idea. It gives the players a real title to shoot for that means something. They can learn so much more. Entry in the cup competitions would be cool too. I hope that they have rules about first team squad participation. It skews the competition if Celtic and Rangers can play 1st team bench jockeys on a weekly basis to the exclusion of true reserves

Of course the glass ceiling has to be there but I would personally not prevent a League 3 reserve team squad playing the Celtic first team XI. That would be cool to have Celtic play Celtic.
