From the Record:
Celtic exile Morten Rasmussen has dig at SPL quality after finding feet at Mainz
Sep 17 2010
MORTEN Rasmussen last night insisted the Bundesliga is a huge step up from the SPL.
The loaned-out Celtic star has been in impressive form for Mainz since completing his short-term move last month.
And the former Brondby man believes the level of competition in Germany can make him a far better player.
Rasmussen - who has already netted twice to help the Rhineland club climb top of the table after three games - said: "In Scotland you have two major clubs, Celtic and Rangers. After that, all the other teams are pretty weak.
"The standard in Germany is without doubt a lot higher.
"When I was playing for Celtic, we dominated the other teams completely in games.
"The opposition only sits behind the ball for most of the game before trying to hit you with a counter attack.
"But the Bundesliga is more balanced. There are a lot of very good teams and playing here will make me a better player in the long run."

I'm not sure this discovery would rank up there with the cure for cancer or the meaning of life.

Newsflash: The Bundesliga is a more balanced league than the SPL. I'm shocked. So Morten thinks that playing in a league where there is more parity amongst the clubs will improve him as a player? I think that his individual skills need to improve in order to help him be more effective in 1 v 1 situations and I suggest that if he wants to be a better player he should start with this...

They should have justed asked big Tam from round the corner, he could have told them the same thing and he's in the phone book.

How does playing in a more balanced league make him a better player than playing in a top heavy league? He'll get more freedom to play in the balanced league because he won't see 10 men behind the ball as much but how does that make him a better player than having to contend with stifling defenses in the SPL?

They are not all stifling defenses. Rangers have a good one but most of the others are not as adept. Celtic also make them seem better due to an inability to properly pass, trap and control the ball. Maybe they should watch your video. Ras was a good player when he got to Celtic and he was a good player when he left. He should have the opportunity to improve by matching his skills against tougher squads on a weekly basis

If our league is that bad, how come he didn't shine while playing. Easy to have a go when not here, wait until he comes back and see how brave he is to mouth off.

Every player has uneven results but Ras played well when he did play. If Keane had not come, he would have played a lot. Obviously Robbie's arrival and then Mowbray's departure limited any other striker in a one striker setup which Celtic essentially became. Ras was highlighted as a good player prior to coming to Celtic. He didn't become a poor one once he came to Glasgow. I thought that he and McDonald could have become a good pair.

what a loada drivel, did he no see THE MIGHTY RANJURS MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY (arguably their best ever result in europe) against the wonderfully talented silky skills of fergies heroes during the week. RA GERS would never have attained such lofty heights had they been playing in a mince league, wattie congratulated the other teams the following morning (except us of course) for their wonderful displays against his MACHINE so far this season, THEY HAVE MADE US THE WELL DRILLED,HARD TO BEAT, MACHINE,TEAM,UNIT, BUS(delete as app) we are today.

When players come out with this sort of stuff then it usually means they'll never come back and resurrect their Scottish career. They've already made the mental break
