Judging by the past two league games I think the only weakness we have in the team is who do we play with big Danny in defence. I've nevere been a fan of Loovens and the past couple of games have done nothing to change that. So I think it's between Hooiveld, Rogne or Misun. What's ur thoughts?

Just think Loovens is a bit of a bomb scare when he's passing it back to keeper, doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. Against Hearts and Motherwell all the hairy moments seemed to involve him.

I thought he only made one bad pass on saturday, big Dan also made a couple as well, at the moment we are not losing goals so i wouldn't change anything just now.4 clean sheets prove that.

I think while we are keeping clean sheets the defence should remain the same.

I'm sure the coaches are watching how players are doing in training as well as in games. If they think that's our best central defensive partnership I'm willing to take their judgement on it, particularly with the results we have been getting. I think we have had issues in that area and as such we over analyse every small error and see it as a sign that we are going back to having a leaky defence.

Like everyone else I think things should be left the way they are until such time that Lenny thinks otherwise, I am not Loovens' greatest fan but if the management are happy with the pairing and we are collecting clean sheets then so be it. If and when Loovens is replaced I'm not sure Hooiveld is the answer, the concensus being he is too slow, so I'd like Misun or Rogne to be the next up to the plate.

I tend to agree with all of that Jas. My thinking is based largely on Tony Mowbray, which is unfortunate, but Hooiveld was his signing which doesn't inspire confidence in me that he will make it as a player at Celtic. Celtic seemed to get opened up at the back with him playing earlier in the season. I know we are only 4 games in but I am sure you know what I mean.

I agree with the leave well alone policy. From what I've seen the alternatives are not up to the task . Hoivelt talks a good game and appears super confident, whereas Rogne appears to be consistently injured, or is it all in his mind .?

I think Big Dan is a superb organiser (a la Mjallby) and he continually talks to those and guides those around him. I think Loovens is certainly benefiting from this guidance. I would leave well alone for the moment.

Loovens is a bomb scare, and one thats not waiting to happen. It already has happened on numerous occasions. Can anyone forget Kenny Miller shoving him out of the way at Mordor to score, just one example. With his height and weight he should be bullying opponents, not running about like a big tart.Hopeless.Of the others,I would hope Rogne, from what I"ve seen, looks the part, but his fitness!!!?.I know I have slaughtered Loovens, but I really hope he proves me wrong, and playing alongside Dan,brings out the best in him.

I agree tictoc. He is a bomb scare and I have lost count how many times he is edged off the ball and he is not prepared to go through people to win the ball. For a Dutch youth to have so little skill in simple passing is strange.
I would have Rogne in learning fro Dan, much the same as the ex young huns lad Wilson.

I pointed out in the match thread last week that all of our defenders had bad moments in the game ie: missed headers, bad passes, but only Loovens got slaughtered and that was for his one bad moment in the game. Some fans are just sitting waiting on his next mistake and if they think he doesn't know it then they are kidding themselves. When he first came he was defending well and scoring a few goals at the other end. Now his confidence is shot and its down to us. We did it to Naylor who also started brightly, had a couple of bad games got slaughtered and lost all confidence, and now we're doing it to Loovens. These guys don't lose there ability they lose the plot knowing the fans are waiting to hound them as soon as they make an error. Greatest fans in the world? Maybe once we were, we're still great in patches as Seville proved, but if you go through the sites, we are amongst the most fickle as well. Maybe its just my age and i remember how it used to be, but i have never known our fans to be so critical of everything about celtic as they have been in the last ten years, we had a manager win the league three times and get hounded out the job...says it all really.

I would leave it ....no need to change ....but if the need comes then I'm afraid Hooiveld is not the answer ...I would not have this one in my u15's team .....keeps getting caught under the ball talks a good game but I'm afraid he can't walk the walk

loovens tried to be too clever and play a pass out of defence - his single error and it didnt lead to anything - rest of the game he was solid, hard in the tackle and he's actually got a bit of pace.
last year he wasnt great but then again, who was? keep him in at the mo and we've got rogne coming through
