I don't normally comment on the opposition...but with Mothersmell...I'll make an exception.....for a team playing at home , with top four ambitions....pretty poor show........negative and boring. Anyway...on to the good guys...... For those of you who think all that should be said is................... Difficult fixture...but 3 points gained and another clean sheet...... this is for you....... Difficult fixture...but 3 points gained and another clean sheet..... For others who like to be a bit more objective...this is for you. This was never going to be an easy game for us and so it proved. As mentioned earlier...M'Well had no interest in opening the game up and were out to achieve a nil nil draw....couple that with a tight pitch and strong swirling wind ...and it was awkward for us. My first concern was when the team was announced..... No Juarez or Kyal or Ki ....but Murphy up front.I still don't understand the mid-field decision .....perhaps "injuries" played a part ??........ and I definitely don't understand the Murphy decision.......anyway.... In terms of possession and work rate ..we were miles ahead of M'Well...but didn't really do enough in the final third. Our new goalie..Mr.Forster.... was hardly tested ...so we'll retain judgement for another day. Cha has a terrific engine ..but his final ball is poor and needs worked on. Loovens had a solid game and couldn't be faulted. The Big Swede was outstanding , I thought, and played really well. Izaguirre had a terrific debut and really looks the part...great game. Sherwood Forrest showed , in flashes, why he's in the team..but not his best game.... Skoosh played too deep in the first half and didn't contribute much. Different in the second half however.....played much further forward and came onto a very good game. Joe Ledley looked a bit frustrated at times...but he put in a decent shift...if not his best one. Maloney , overall, had a very good game...but his finishing is poor... needs to work on this. Samaras seemed to have been given a free role ...and while there was no obvious end product...I thought he worked his butt off and put in a good shift on behalf of the team.... Murphy.....now this is where I need help.....does anyone know something about this guy that would endear him to me ?? I really don't rate him..and apart from his very well taken penalty ( which I was sure he would miss)...he did nothing....surely Rasmussen, or Fortune or even Hutchison would have been better ?? Strange signing as far as I'm concerned...but...hope he comes good and proves me wrong. Pat McCourt showed his ability again when he came on....but some of his shooting left a lot to be desired. Speaking of shooting...there were a couple of occasions later in the game , when a shot should have been tried ( Ledley and Brown ) and what worried me a wee bit here was.....it looked as if it was a confidence thing .....hope not ....as we're good enough to have a go and not worry if it don't happen. Overall it was a merited and important three pointer to put us top of the League...now all we have to do is win every remaining game and we're Champions( I'll go and lie down in a minute !!).... MOTM ?? Well I had three candidates....... The Big Swede....Izaguirre and Maloney....... taking everything into account .......I have to give it to...... Izaguirre.... Enjoy your day....

Yeah, you pretty much summed it up I think we need a decent forward, Maloney had so many chances but no result and it seems we are relying on midfielders to score, I see we are close to signing Stokes, I think in the current climate he is our best chance, if he gets the service time will tell if he is worthy of the jersey.

I had no problem playing Murphy. Lennon obviously rates him and he has to be given a chance. Izzy was great. I thought everything positive going forward (before McCourt came in) went through Maloney. He looks much better played in a central role. Forster looked good with the ball at his feet and at 6'7" should fill the net nicely.

I can only imagine Juarez and Kayal were rested after Thursday night.
Agree about another poster regarding Daryl Murphy, need to give the boy a chance.
Izaguirre looks a real find.
