See the guy from St Etienne, Yohan Benalouane, has gone on loan to Cesena on loan, and I also wonder why we heard nothing more about Ramis either

Staring to look like Stokes our last signing. Sad I know but I am sure it is not without trying. I hope to be proved wrong before midnight

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that the club are hoping to complete a last-gasp deal for Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart. Stay with us for more on this breaking news. The window may have closed, but this deal can still be done provided the Premier League had received all the relevant paperwork by 6pm.

I Will be more than a little pissed-off if we dont bring in another player before midnight tonight.. I honestly think that would be harsh. Neil has done an awful lot of businees and effectively brought in a whole new team. He has tried to do even more and some of it just hasn't come off. I would love to see a big name coming in tonight but I certainly won't be pi55ed off if it doesn't happen.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is 'hopeful' that Rafael van der Vaart will soon be joining the club.
Spurs swooped late for the Real Madrid midfielder on Tuesday and are still waiting on clearance before officially announcing the arrival of the Holland international.
Redknapp admits the agreement was rushed through with the 6pm deadline fast approaching and he is uncertain as to whether everything was completed in time.
He hopes he will be given good news by chairman Daniel Levy, as he believes Van der Vaart would be a useful addition to his already star-studded squad.
"It's still dragging on. We are just waiting to see whether it's all gone through," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
"We are waiting for clearance. The chairman is dealing with it and Darren Eales the secretary, there is nothing more I can do now." Quality
Redknapp revealed he turned his attention to Van der Vaart, a man who graced this summer's World Cup final, once it became apparent that Real were prepared to part with him in a cut-price deal.
"I think he was going to Bayern Munich yesterday for about £18million, but suddenly it became an awful lot cheaper," added the Spurs chief.
"He is available now for about £8million. He is a quality player. He is a Dutch international and a great footballer.
"For that sort of money, he is a top player and he will improve us for sure. We have made the effort, whether we can pull it off or not we will have to see.
"I am hopeful. It could happen. It was a last-minute job. When I came in this morning it certainly wasn't something I was looking to do."
Bargain
On the attributes Van der Vaart would bring to Tottenham, Redknapp said: "He is a great passer of the ball, he is a top footballer. He will join in here and play the way we like to play, he would be a big plus for us.
"He looked like he was going for £18million but then the fee came crashing down because the deadline got close. If the chairman can pull it off, I think he will have got a real bargain."
While Redknapp looks set to land one Dutchman, he insists he was never close to striking a deal with Liverpool for Ryan Babel.
He said: "We were interested in Ryan Babel. He has got pace, he is lighting quick and he was a player we made an enquiry for, but we never got that close."

Would dearly love to see a big name addition but if it doesn't happen I wont be upset. I think in the round Lennon has strengthened the positions we wanted to see strengthened and we have the capability to win the title. If nothing else happens IMO it wont be for the want of trying on the part of the Board and some of the targets may become available in January.......we still have money available for the right acquisitions. Hail Hail

I agree Jim, too many conveniently forget he has already brought in 11 players and just because he couldn't get in a marquee signing or a "star" CB there are too many criticisms, he deserves our support not condemnation.

West Ham seems to have lost out on Keane due to a series of events so I guess Robbie stays, leaves the country or Harry breaks in a couple of hours and relents. Looks like he is destined to remain a high paid insurance policy with a captains arm band on
What a waste

The £1.2million signing of Anthony Stokes proved to be the final act of Celtic’s crazy summer of transfer activity – but it was not for the want of trying.
The Republic of Ireland hitman was the 11th player to be recruited as almost £10million was spent on a complete new team.
But, even as the window was closing, manager Neil Lennon was trying to recruit the central defender he believes he needs.
The war of attrition waged with Nottingham Forest over Kelvin Wilson was not won, though, with the 24-year-old in the final year of his contract, it will be re-engaged in January.
Aston Villa’s Curtis Davies was considered as a loan option, along with Newcastle’s Steven Taylor, but no deal could be concluded for either.
Attention was also turned to Swansea’s Ashley Williams. But the Championship club were holding out for £4m for the 26-year-old Welsh international who they bought from Stockport for just a tenth of that two years ago. That was a valuation considered too high by both Celtic and the other club who enquired about him, Leicester City.
Celtic fans had been hoping for a repeat of the drama which marked the end of the last transfer window, when Robbie Keane made a late dash to sign on loan but the striker remains a Spurs player.
Celtic were also thwarted in their attempt to move out Marc Crosas. He appeared to be heading to PAOK Salonika but problems at the Greek end forced the deal to be abandoned.
New Bhoy Stokes, meanwhile, wants to settle at Celtic after making first-team appearances for six different clubs in his short career.
“Hopefully I can do well and settle here,” said the striker, who is away on Republic of Ireland Under-21 duty for the rest of the week. “It’s been in the papers for the last few days how many clubs I have had. If it was up to me I would sign a contract for the rest of my career.”
The 22-year-old rejected the chance to join Celtic three years ago, opting to sign for Sunderland instead and said: “It was good experience for me down there and, hopefully, I’m coming here a better player.”
