What he saw, that other people didn't, was a sleeping giant. He knew that if he could get 50,000 or so people going to Celtic park on a regular basis, and also buying merchandise then the Club could grow. He also understood what it meant to be a Celtic fan and that if he could build the Club up then the fans would want to own it. Others have tried to do the same and failed, simply because the potential wasn't there, and more importantly the fan were not of the right type. In short they were not Celtic fans.
