By Andrew McLean Sep 7, 2010 8:15:00 AM 1 Polish goalkeeper Artur Boruc has spoken of his discontent playing second fiddle to Sebastien Frey at Fiorentina, after the 30-year-old moved from Celtic this summer for €1.2 million. The big Pole moved on the premise of playing first team football this season in Italy but has declared he may be forced to quickly move elsewhere if he will be denied a regular starting berth in the Viola side. "I came to play, if this will not change I will change my club," Boruc said bluntly to il Tirreno. "Against Ukraine I played well but I can't continue on the bench in Florence. I am glad to be back in the national team, I will fight for my place but if the situation doesn't change I will simply change clubs. "I accepted the offer because Fiorentina are an important club and I wanted a change after so many years at Celtic but it is difficult to say whether I made the right choice," Boruc concluded bluntly. id welcome you back here in a heartbeat big man

Should never have been allowed to leave Pat.How hard is it to bring in a top class keeper?.Well we now know.Always will be a legend with us,but cant see him coming back. The board would not give him the money then,so cant see it now.Again a bit of false economy.Lets hope Forster is a real keeper.

I agree BB. The big man wanted out and didn't want to sign on again. Best of luck Artur and I will always keep my eye on how his career is going wherever he ends up

His missus didn't like living in Glasgow and that was a major factor in the move. Behind every great man there's always a woman - and she's always saying 'let's ditch your pals and move on........' Btw I'm still annoyed at Yoko Ono.

That's right Pat. He wanted to leave and he accomplished his goal. What he didn't get right was the "where to" part. His form and fame peaked about two seasons ago and so did his chance to move to a "big club" of his choosing.

I agree; He wanted away and his wish was granted. Celtic need to move on. When one door closes another one opens. Foster might turn out to be better than Artur. Lets give him a chance
Cheers

Wish he'd wanted to stay and we'd given him the money. He was my favourite Celtic player since the MON days.

I have never really gone along with the ' legend' tag that is always attached to Boruc.
He was a good keeper for us, but he also had his share of howlers too.

Boruc had a superb first season and while he probably is the best keeper we've had, I feel that has more to do with how poor our record with keepers is than how good he was. He was still capable of brilliance after his first season, but also had many howlers and went through large periods where he looked very shaky indeed. I believe that first season and the Holy Goalie persona and what came with it protected him from criticism from many within our support.
We may love him, but I think it speaks for itself that he was available for a fairly cheap price and the best he could do was a spot on the bench at Fiorentina despite reports that numerous big names were looking for a keeper.

I thought that they should have moved him last year. Celtic would have received more and he would have had a greater selection of suitors. Not a bad place to go to but why pick a club that has an established keeper already? Fiorentina wanted to push Frey with another keeper. Boruc was a bargain for them. What was his agent thinking to allow him to agree to that particular move. Still wondering how he didn't end up in the EPL.
Greenstatus - Think back to the end of the 2007/2008 season and then the Euro's. The way Boruc was playing (top of his game), he was being called one of the top 5-6 keepers in Europe and the world.

Celtic took the Best offer but Artur didn't have to take it. He did and that he is underused and maybe somewhat underpaid is down to his choices.

Bottom line, I don't expect him to be here after this season and we will be looking for a new keeper again.

I agree and he was a loose cannon, he made a move thinking the grass was greener on the other side, or more likely just the proverbial geographical move, that things will be different, snag is that rarely is the case, because no matter where you go, your always there too! LoL

I respect your opinion mate but I think you have been really harsh on Artur here. On top form Artur is imo in the top 5 goalkeepers in the World. It was time for him to move but he is a world class goalkeeper.
