the amount of players going in and out of celtic in the past couple of years is becoming a joke, lets keep the ones we have and add a couple of class signings next year and continue to work that way, we are going through managers as if they are going out of fashion and i feel its time we stayed with the same guy and gave him our 100% backing.its not good for celtic the way we have been chopping and changing in the past.
thoughts.

utrecht took care of that one pat. i really expected a big name to appease the fans after that davie really not happy at all with celtic just now its bad news after bad news we are top of the league 9 points and not lost a goal, thats not bad news, we usually struggle at inverness and motherwell but we have taken all of the points and to me thats a plus.if players dont want to sign for us thats their problem, i'm delighted we didn't get james, campbell or bullard..waste of wages in my opinion.james is flapping all over the place just now, campbell still isn't fit and bullard is happy to sit down and do nothing.

we've been buying quantity i really expected quality last night Quantity over quality? Not a dig at you Pat but that line is being repeated like a mantra by huns and their compliant media and unfortunately some tims are buying into it too. A bit early to write off the guys we've brought in as lacking quality when they've only just been introduced to each other and the team. Really we've only had a glimpse of guys like Izaguirre, Ledley, Kayal, Juarez, etc, but there's certainly quality in there and hopefully that'll become apparent as they gel into a unit. I'm fully expecting these guys to shove this 'quantity' stuff right down their hun throats in the near future.

i have a feeling that when this celtic team clicks into gear there will be no stopping them, and the old excuses of 'the huns are busy in europe' will start coming out.

I was glad we didn't sign Robbie KEANE last night. The main reasons I say this is; in my opinion he would have sent us broke and when the money dried up would he have stayed; I think not. 65K pound a game he demanded last season was absurd; where did that get us??? No doubt Keane is a great player but there are no guarantees with anyone. Bullard asking the same and trying to cash in on Celtic was an insult. So glad we didn't sign him.
I think Stokes is a good buy as is Kayal, Ledley; Izaguire and Juarez. Mulgrew will be a good squad player as will Crosas if he stays. Like the big Swede and Hoovield at centrebacks; give them time and they will be fine. Don't really know the keeper so can' comment and don;t have an opinion as yet.
Not a big fan of Samaras but Lennon obviously sees something he likes in him as player; so he gets a game every week????
I do genuinely belief the glory days will return to Celtic; but at the moment it is a work in progress. We have the makings of a good team with some good international players in our squad.
On a side issue; I was watching the Motherwell game the other night and was surprised at the rubbish that came out of Craig Burley's mouth. I used to rate him as a Celtic player and liked him when he played but I detected a sense of Anti Celtic. Does this have anything to do with George getting the bullet from the National job. Anyone enlighten me as to what the go is with Craig Burley or am I being paranoid.
Keep the faith.

I think Neil was thinking outside the box on many of these signing. The talent in the SPL is pretty well known so he likely was looking for something a little different. Cha, Juarez, Izzy all played fairly well in the World Cup against some pretty decent sides. These guys are pretty diverse and as long as they gel properly, they should be pretty good.
The most important thing to me is the passing and central defense. Do a better job of controlling the ball and don't leave gaps in the defense. Work together

Had you heard of Moravcik, Boruc and barely Larsson? I have a feeling Lennon has bought wisely, Juarez, Kayal, Ledley, Izaguirre and Majstorovic are going to be stars for us with Forrest, Hooper and Stokes we have a team that can dominate for years, obviously not what the hun meeja will have you believe but I ain't interested in what they have to say anyway.

Who says our signings aren't quality.....time wil tell and let's give Neil the respect he deserves and that he knows what he is doing. Now, as has been said, let's get behind the team and manager for the next several seasons and build on the quality we have

Who knows who's going to turn out to be stars, but after an initial look, the likes of Juarez, Kayal and maybe Emilio have a wee chance of being the quality you were seeking.

To be honest I'm not that interested in big name signings or in what is paid for a player. What I am interested in is how good they are and more importantly how well they play for Celtic. If Stokes score 20 goals this season he will have done twice as well as Fortune for less than a third of the price. Kayal looks good, we didn't pay a huge amount for him, same with Juarez, looking good and not costing a fortune. I think Ledley has yet to find his game, he cost nothing, there was talk of EPL clubs valuing him at £6m or in that area.
We have a (for the most part) young squad which will grow into a good team. It matters not one jot if any of them were big names before they got to us, or how much it cost to get them here. What's important is how they perform, let them become big names at Celtic. It certainly wouldn't be the first time, it's part of our history. It's the real Celtic.

i have a feeling that when this celtic team clicks into gear there will be no stopping them, and the old excuses of 'the huns are busy in europe' will start coming out. I tend to agree with you. This young promising team has great potential, and once they start clicking and gelling on all gears, it will be hard stopping them. We have a tremendously strong midfield in Brown Kayal and Juarez, where games are won and lost.
