Yes he played good against Hearts, but not good against Kilmarnock, I think he is a bit slow, so far I aint that impressed!

he was known as the weeping angel when he played for sunderland due to the fact he was so slow even when taking penalties he resembles a weeping angel.

I am willing to reserve judgement and give him a bit of time to settle in.

If it was a bit more like American Football then we could just bring him on for penalties, he looks pretty cool taking them. As has been suggested it's a wee bit early to judge him. Hail Hail

dont think it will matter how much time he gets to settle in because imo i cant see him being a first team regular anyway......as bobby said a waste of money

He was really impressive against Hearts but last week he was pretty poor.
The fact is though he has scored two goals in three spl starts and he deserves to be given a chance.
He wouldn't be my first choice but he will be a useful squad player.

Didnt look slow to me when he ran away from the Hearts defence for the 1st goal.Good in the air, which can sometimes be useful, looks better than what I expected.Deserves us to give him a season, before we make judgements. For gods sake, has only played a few games.

Too early to make hasty judgements IMO, willing to give him a few games to prove him self, if it's a toss up between him and Samaras I'd take Murphy every time SO FAR, although he has scored two penalties with the staggered run up, that method will be caught out sooner or later unless he changes occasionally.

He's a squad striker who didn't cost us a lot of money. We cannot have 22 first team starters. We simply can't afford that, so we need starters and people who can do a job for us when required. He is also available for us to try different options, cover for injuries and to rest the main strikers.

As said, it's far too early to judge him fairly. I haven't been overly impressed with him so far, but I'll be giving him plenty of time to show us what he can do.

Nothing as far as I can see. Two coolly taken penalties when required. Can't really fault it.

The stats show he has won us 4 points so far as both his penalties were the difference between winning and drawing. Yes another could have taken and scored them but they didn't, he did.
Give him a chance.

Murphy has done no wrong mate. He has scored two crucial penalty kicks for us, and has been effective as a battering ram striker to rummel up the opposing defences, and for the other striker to feed off. Some folks are too ready and harsh with their criticism on certain Celtic players. maybe they just like the charismatic players. But I have got news for them. Sometimes it is the unsung heroes in the side, like Murphy, Samaras, Ledley and Brown who are the most effective cogs in the team.

My view seems pretty similar to that of others. The lad has done nothing wrong; got into the team when Hooper got injured and has contributed to the results of games; has the courage to step up and take the penalties; so far so good. I liked to see both Daryl Murphy and Anthony Stokes were wanting to take the penalty the other day and it got sorted out on the park without any dramas. Surely Neil Lennon would have delegated who is the preferred penalty taker is and if he is on the park then its a no brainer unless he doesnt feel confident. My son made the comment to me that he thought it looked a little bit untidy and thought they were arguing about who was going to take the penalty.
I think it is imperative that we get a striking partnership that will score goals; know and understand each other strenghts and weaknesses; and play together as much as possible. I can see Stokes being a very good player and believe he would be a good partner for either Hooper or Murphy then you throw samaras into the mix as well. I dont know a lot about Murphy or Hooper; but truly believe we now have the nucleus of a good team.
The srtikers that get picked and formation they play for whatever games is down to NL and his coaching staff. It's healthy that there is good competition for a starting place.
